The San Diego Roleplaying AssociationMeet with local GMs who need players, players who need games, and discuss RPGs in general. Stop spending all that time reading the books and making up characters, and actually PLAY! This meetup has a discussion once a month but also has one or tow one-shots and is a great way to be part of the rpg community. Cost $2.50 every 3 months. The San Diego Dungeons and Dragon MeetupMeet other local Dungeons & Dragons players for adventures and fun! Come to a Dungeons & Dragons Meetup to explore fantastic worlds, clash with dark monsters, spin lore and commit heroic feats while playing the greatest RPG of all time! This is a great meetup for putting a group together. It is free and meets once a month.

There are a number of conventions and game days that occur in San Diego and Southern California area.
Hyphen-ConThis is rpg-sandigo.org's annual game day which occurs every Spring. An entire day of gaming with games submitted and then chosen by forum members. StrategiconThis is the largest gaming convention in Souther California. It occurs three times a year during President's Day weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend. The convention has ton of rpgs as well as miniature gaming, board games, and card games. CondorA long running scifi con that occurs in the Spring. Recently it hasn't had much gaming but we are trying to turn that around and have a plethora of gaming for 2010. |
There are two game stores in San Diego. Game Empire7051 Clairemont Mesa Ave Suite 306 Has a decent selection of games including D&D (rpgs and miniatures), White Wolf, Shadowrun, Star Wars and Savage Worlds. They also get a few other popular titles and every now and then they get a few indie rpgs. The also have a healthy selectio of used rpgs. There is plenty of gaming tables and they also sell snacks. It is nearby to a Starbucks where the D&D meetup occurs. Game Town3954 Harney Street Great location in Old Town San Diego. They carry a lot of different rpgs including D&D, d20 and White Wolf. They also have some stranger game like Starblazer Adventurues, Prime Directive and a healthy selection of Cyberpunk 2020/v3. They frequently have sales reducing stock from 25% to $1 a book. They have a few gaming tables that are in the back room. |
